Santa Clara City Power is proud to announce that our team has received the 2025 System Improvement Award from Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS)! This award recognizes member utilities for their commitment to system upgrades, capital improvements, and preventative maintenance measures that modernize facilities, improve system reliability, reduce losses and outage times, and enhance power quality.
In 2025, Santa Clara City Power invested approximately $340,000 in major infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening the reliability and longevity of our electric system. One of our most significant initiatives was the primary cable replacement and conduit installation project. Much of the existing primary cable had been installed in the 1980s without protective conduit, and over time it became a recurring source of outages due to insulation failures. By systematically replacing the old cable with new jacketed cable housed in conduit, we have greatly improved system durability, simplified maintenance, and reduced the likelihood of service interruptions for our customers.
Another critical project involved the purchase and installation of new voltage regulators at our substations. These regulators support a proactive maintenance and rotation program, allowing us to inspect, rebuild, and replace equipment before failures occur. This preventative maintenance strategy helps prevent potential catastrophic failures and extends the lifespan of our substation equipment, ensuring safe and reliable electric service for years to come.
Through these projects, Santa Clara City Power has demonstrated its dedication to modernization, reliability, and proactive asset management, keeping our community powered safely and efficiently. We are proud of our team’s hard work and commitment to maintaining a resilient electric system that meets the needs of our residents and businesses now and well into the future.
